Rebates - Solar Hot Water

  • What are the different rebates, REC's and VEEC's and how do I claim them?
  • What are the Government grants and is our school, club or business eligible to apply?
  • How much are the rebates for solar hot water?

The Federal rebate scheme for solar hot water systems has been abruptly axed by the Gillard government.

Climate change parliamentary secretary Mark Dreyfus issued a press release at 5pm 28/2/12 announcing the Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme was being shut down.

The scheme offered a $1000 rebate for a solar hot water system and $600 for a heat pump.

Mr Dreyfus said households must have installed, purchased or ordered and paid a deposit on a system before close of business yesterday to qualify. Rebate applications must be lodged before June 30.

Victorian Government Rebates, STCs and VEECs are still available at this time.

The rebates, STCs and VEECs for solar hot water systems do vary between manufacturers and from solar hot water system sizing. They also vary depending upon what type of old system you are replacing (electric or gas). For many houses, they usually add up to around $1500 to $2500. However, rebate values change regularly and without notice.
